History
Richard Cortez founded Metalcraft in 1986 upon his retirement from a
twenty-six year career in sheet metal with Hewlett Packard. The
company moved into its current production facility in 1994, and
Rich’s son Ken Cortez was brought on as General Manager. Rich
stepped back from the daily operations in 2001 and Ken, as
President, took over running the company. After Rich’s passing in
December of 2004, Ken is the company’s sole stockholder.

Metalcraft organizes and presents the Jalapeno Open Golf
Tournament every summer to benefit the Hispanic Business
Association’s Richard G. Cortez scholarship fund. Over the
past 12 years, the tournament has raised money for $104,000
in scholarships for 139 students.
